Diana A. Lay

Diana Ashworth Lay, 63, of Hammond died on Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, in her residence.

Mrs. Lay was born in Pineville, raised in Lake Charles and lived in Westlake before moving to the Houston area. She later returned to Louisiana and was most recently residing in Hammond. Mrs. Lay was a graduate of LaGrange High School and attended San Jacinto Community College before receiving her masters degree in psychology at the University of Houston in Clear Lake, Texas. Her previous employments include the Mental Health and Retardation Authority of Harris County, the University of Texas Medical School, the Southwest Developmental Center in Louisiana, the Allen Mental Health Clinic and, most recently, the North Lake Support and Services Center in Hammond.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Lisa Lay Broussard of Gillis and Connie Lay Frye of Westlake; two sisters, Carolyn Ashworth Mabile and husband Tony of Waco, Texas, and dourly "Lynn" Godshaw Dorsett and husband R.J. of League City, Texas; one half-brother, Andy Ashworth; six grandchildren, Kevin Frye of Beaumont, Rachel Broussard of Lake Charles, Jacob Frye of Westlake, Simon Broussard of Lake Charles and Joseph Frye and Kaylee Frye, both of Westlake; and her two pet companions, Rocky and Max.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Janies Godshaw; and her father Murphy Ashworth.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Ronnie Estes will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today, Feb. 11, and continue at 8 a.m. Thursday.
