Donald Clyde Winters
Funeral services for Donald C. Winters, 59, who passed away Friday July 2, 2010 at University Medical Center after heart surgery on June 30, 2010, will be Monday 10 A. M. at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Smith oifficiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Sunday 5 to 7 P. M. at the funeral home.
Mr. Winters was born January 13,1951, in Natchez, the son of J C and Alice Campbell Winters. Donald lived his life in Natchez except for a few years while working in New Orleans, Kansas City and Beaumont, Texas. Donald loved people and dogs. Evidence of his love was his volunteer work with the Natchez Chapter of the Red Cross, as well as with the Human Society. Donald worked as an EMT caring for people, as well as in sales and hotel management. Anyone who knew Donald knew about his German Shepherds. He raised and bred some beautiful Shepherds that were like his children. Donald's life was a living testimony to the grace of God. He dealt with many health issues including his recent blindness which sent him to live with his sister in Brandon.
Donald was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Winters, and all his grandparents, Clyde and Zelma Freeman Campbell of Natchez, and John Calvin and Lockie Carroll Winters of Greenwood.
He is survived by his sister, Jackie Winters of Brandon, his dad, J C Winters of Natchez; aunts Betty (Jerry) Holloway and Doris (Leon) Smith, all of Washington; Stella Acy of Greenwood, Agnes Broadhead and Thelma Meredith, of Clarksdale, Myrtle (Buford) Nail of Mobile; uncles J C (Mary) Campbell of Dallas, Texas and Belma (Dean) Winters of Pascagoula; as well as numerous cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Gary Holloway, Joel Smith,Greg Holloway,Royce Winters, Doug Winters, and Marion Winters.
Donald will be greatly missed by those who loved him. Any donations that wish to be made may be given to the Natchez Red Cross or Human Society.
