Donald Crain
Donald Crain, 82, of Evadale, TX died Thursday, March 20, 2003 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, TX. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at 2 pm at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor, TX under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday from 5-9pm at the funeral home.
A native of Sikes, Louisiana, Mr. Crain was born on July 13, 1920 to Alford & Alma Crain. He had been a captain/owner of a shrimp boat in Sabine Pass, TX for a number of years. After retiring eighteen years ago, he moved back to Evadale, where he had lived prior to moving to Sabine Pass. He was a member of the Evadale Church of Christ. A veteran of the US Navy during World War II, Mr. Crain was also a proud Navy dad as one of his sons also joined the Navy. A third generation has continued the military tradition with a granddaughter in the Navy, and another granddaughter in the US Marine Corps.
He is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law David & Sheila Crain of Loudon, Tennessee, Douglas & Barbara Crain of Orange, and Darrell & Barbara Crain of Evadale; daughter Lorie Crain of Evadale; son Donald Andrew Crain of the US Navy serving aboard the USS Nimitiz; sister Jeanette Atkins of Farmersville, Louisiana; eleven grandchildren, and four great- grandchildren. Mr. Crain was preceded in death by his wife Opal Crain.
