8 Texans Die In War

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Eight more Texans have died in Viet Nam, the Defense Department said Monday.

Killed in action were Army Pfc. Robert O. Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Davis, Colorado City; Army Pfc. Robert D. Findley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Findley, Houston; Army Pfc. Jimmy L. Hockaday, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas C. Hockaday, Mount Pleasant; Army Pfc. Donald L. Richardson, husband of Mrs. Glenda S. Richardson, Corsicana; Navy Lawrence T. Stein, husband of Mrs. Eileen L. Stein, Freeport; and Marine Sgt. Walter Muller Jr., husband of Mrs. Walter Muller Jr., Galveston.

Dead of non-hostile causes were Army Pfc. A. Marroquin, husband of Mrs. Alma Marroquin, Mercedes, and Army Pfc. James R. Rice, son of Jimmie E. Rice, Fort Worth.

Hold Services Soldier Killed In Viet Nam

Funeral services for Pfc. Donald L. Richardson, 20, first Corsicanan killed in Viet Nam, were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Corley Chapel.

The rites were conducted by Rev. Alvin L. Steen, pastor of the Third Avenue Baptist church. Burial was in Restland Memorial Park.

Pfc. Richardson was killed August 11 by a fragment from a land mine. The body arrived in Dallas Thursday morning by plane, accompanied by a brother, Earl Richardson, US Army, Fort Hood, who went to Oakland Monday for this mission.

He attended school in Corsicana and graduated from Hutchins High School and later attended Navarro Junior College. He was a former newsboy of the Corsicana Daily Sun and was employed several years at Safeway as an apprentice butcher. He volunteered to go to Viet Nam and enlisted October 11, 1965.

Surviving are his young widow who is pregnant, mother, Mrs. Ruby Richardson, Corsicana; father, H. N. Richardson, Texarkana; three brothers, Earl Richardson, Mesquite, Fort Hood; Jimmy Richardson, Corsicana, U. S. Army, Fort Polk, La., and Ricky RIchardson, Corsicana; grandmothers, Mrs. Era Turner and Mrs. Ethel Richardson, both of Corsicana, and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Charles Back, Larry Back, Maurice Yielding, Butch Finley, Jimmy Whistler, Beauford Rash, Marvin Hall and Robbie Williams.
