Donald P. Smeltzer

Donald P. (Donnie) Smeltzer of Rileyville, died on Friday, June 16, 2006, at home with his loving family around him.

He was born on Dec. 16, 1947, in Luray, and was the son of the late Nora and Emory Smeltzer.

At the young age of 16, Donnie attended auctioneer school in Mason City, Iowa and immediately began his career as an auctioneer.

After graduating from Luray High School, he attened computer school in Maryland. He worked as a computer systems analyst at the U. S. Department of Commerce and the Department of the Navy in Washington, D. C.

He then returned to Page County where he began his auction and realty career. He served one term on the Page County Board of supervisors for District 2.

On October 10, 1975, he married his beloved Charlotte Appel Smeltzer.

Donnie is survived by Charlotte and two stepsons, Marty Fake and his wife, Joy and Shannon ‘Smokey’ Fake. In addition he is survived by two sisters, Jean Dovel and her husband Bobby of Stanley and Jo-Ann Smeltzer of Luray and a brother, Max Smeltzer and his wife Betty of Rileyville; plus an extended large loving family.
