(November 18, 1941 - May 20, 2007)

Funeral services for Doris Jean Bates will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Sharp Baptist Church Sharp with reverend Larry Basco officiating under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville. Burial will be at Campbell Creek cemetery, Sharp.

Doris Jean Bates age 65, of Lena entered enternal [sic] rest Sunday, May 20, 2007 at her residence, Lena.

She was a native of Clermont Harbor, Mississippi. She was a retired clerk for many years for Kountry Korner store in Sharp. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sharp Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her son, Danny Rood and her father, Horace Johnson.

She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Odis Bates of Sharp; three sosn [sic], Charles Rood and his wife Debra of Youngsville, Robert Bates and his wife Lynn of Campti and William ``Neal'' Bates and his wife Dewana of Sharp; his her mother [sic her mother], Gladys Johnson of Longbeach, Mississippi; one brother, Jimmy Johnson and his wife Faye of Longbeach, Mississippi; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 22, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Wednesday, May 23, 2007 from 9:00 p.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Sharp Baptist Church, Sharp.
