Pledger
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2007 for Doris Lorraine Emmons Pledger, 80, of Hull, at the Sterling Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with Rev. Vernon Parsons officiating. A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Oakland Cemetery in Navasota.
She was born June 17, 1926 in Rusk, to her late parents, Harvey Wiggins Emmons Sr. and Edith Ruby Russell Emmons and lived in Hull for more than 30 years after moving from Bryan. Mrs. Pledger enjoyed gardening and bingo and was a member of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Pledger passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.P. Pledger; parents, Harvey Wiggins Emmons Sr. and Edith Ruby Russell Emmons; step-mother, Emmy Emmons; brothers, Wesley Emmons and Walter Emmons; sister, Shirley Glover; and grandson, Ronnie Paul Pledger.
Survivors include her children, James E. Pledger Sr. of Hull, Patricia Ann Enfinger and her husband, John, and Raymond Pledger and his wife, Judy, all of Houma; sister, Kathy Martin of Caldwell; brothers, Eugene Emmons and his wife, Linda, of Beaver Creek, Texas and Harvey Emmons and his wife, Martha, of Pasadena; grandchildren, Little John Paul Pledger Sr., and his wife, June, of Hardin, James E. Pledger Jr. of Houma, Shane Richard Pledger and his wife, Wendy, of Arlington, Jeffrey Lane Pledger of the U.S. Navy, serving in Iraq, Michael Lee Pledger of Houma, Douglas Burgess and his wife, Stacy, of Houma, Samantha Fanguy and her husband, Travis, of Houma, Richard Pledger of Houma and Randy Pledger and his wife, Robin, of Houston; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sterling Funeral Home, Dayton, was in charge of arrangements.
