Doris Pauline Thomas

Daingerfield -- Services for Doris Pauline Thomas, 77 of Daingerfield will be 2 p.m. today in first Baptist Church in Daingerfield with the Revs Virgil Fielden and Cecil McLeod officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Pittsburg. Under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. Mrs Thomas died Monday at a Pittsburg hospital after a long illness.

An Upshur County native, she had lived in Morris County since 1926. She attended East Texas State University, the University of Texas and Sam Houston State University, received a teacher's certificate at age 19 and taught in public school systems until retirement in 1969. A member of the First Baptist Church and former Sunday School director and teacher, she is also a member of Beta Kappa Gamma, Rebecca, and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband W.E.; four sons, W.E. (Dub) Jr of Orange, David Amos and Paul Amos, both of Longview, and Bob Amos of Daingerfield; three daughters, Mrs. Turner Smith and Mrs. Don Dehmlow, both of Pittsburg, and Mrs. Wayne Bruney of Longview; two brothers, Dial Amos of Daingerfield and Murle Amos of DeBerry; two sisters, Myrtis Wylie of Waco and Jessie Mae Garner of Gladewater; and six grandchildren.
