Dorothy Hurt Sopko

Former Shenango Valley woman was a homemaker

PASADENA, Texas _ Dorothy Hurt Sopko, Deer Park, Texas, formerly of the Shenango Valley, died at 4:58 p.m. Tuesday (8-26-97) in Columbia Bay Shore Hospital of natural causes. She was 72.

Mrs. Sopko was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Texas to Thomas and Pearl Haines [sic Hanes] Hurt.

She graduated from Seagoville (Texas) High School.

Mrs. Sopko was a homemaker.

Surviving are: her husband, Joe Sopko Sr., whom she married 53 years ago, Deer Park; a son, Joe Jr., Alvin, Texas; two daughters, Diane Adoue, Montgomery, Texas; and Mrs. Kenneth (Dorothy ``Arnita'') Shaver, Uvalde, Texas; two brothers, Kenneth and Jim Hurt, both Ganado, Texas; three sisters, Mozell Novasod [sic Mozelle Novosad], Ganado; and Cozette Legan and Florece Ausbaum [sic Ausenbaugh], both Pasadena; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 9:30 a.m. today (8-29-97) in Deer Park. Burial will be in Houston National Cemetery.

SOPKO

Dorothy Hurt Sopko, 72, of Deer Park, died Aug. 25, 1997. Sopko is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joe Sopko, Sr., Deer Park; son and daughter-in-law, Joe Sopko Jr. and wife, Vicki Jo, Alvin; two daughters, Diane Adoue, Montgomery; Dorothy (Amits) Shaver and her husband, Kenneth, Uvalde; two brothers, Kenneth Hurt and Jim Hurt, Ganado; three sisters, Mozell Novasod [sic Mozelle Novosad], Ganado, Cozette Legan and Florece Ausbaum [sic Ausenbaugh], Pasadena; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, in the Chapel of Deer Park Funeral Directors, 336 E. San Augustine. Interment followed in Houston National Cemetery.
