Dorothy Brogan Bradford

Dorothy Brogan Bradford, 87, of Laurel, died Friday, October 9, 2009 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, with burial in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Rev. Ken Regan will officiate.

She was an alumni of George S. Gardiner High School and Jones County Jr. College. Dorothy retired as Beat 1 Justice Court Judge after 32 years of service. She was an active member of Heritage Heights Baptist Church, a past officer of Business and Professional Women's Club, past Nova Grand of Naomi Rebecca Lodge #23 and also served as Treasurer.

She was active in the Eastern Star serving as Grand Officer in the 1960's, past Grand Representative, past Matron of Laurel Chapter #24 and Chapter Secretary for 50 years. She was also a dual member of Soso Lodge where she served the station ``Weather''. She attended Eastern Star meetings at all chapters within the district when possible.

She was also a member of the DMA Club of the YWCO.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Bradford; parents, Steve and Hattie Brogan; brother, Billy Brogan; sisters, Mary Brogan Parker and Norma Brogan Johnston.

She is survived by her son, Douglas Bradford (Linda), Covington, LA; granddaughter, Elizabeth Bradford McGough, Philadelphia, PA; grandson, Douglas Curtis Bradford, New York, NY; great-grandson, Brogan Alexander McGough, Philadelphia, PA; brother, Charles Brogan, Laurel; and sister, Barbara Brogan Holifield of Laurel.

Pallbearers will be Mark Brogan, Mickey Holifield, Tommy Brogan, Jackie Brogan, Steve Holifield, Stephen Johnston, Donnie Brogan, and Douglas Bradford. Honorary pallbearers will be her Sunday School Class at Heritage Heights Baptist Church and all Eastern Star Members.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009 at Memory Chapel of Laurel, which is in charge of arrangements.
