Dorothy (Guidry) Girlinghouse

VINTON -- Dorothy Louise Girlinghouse, 73, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 in a local hospital.
Dorothy, a Lake Arthur native, has resided in Vinton for the last 39 years. She will be remembered as a person who was devoted to her family and enjoyed teasing and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook, a joy to be around and someone who possessed a beautiful dry sense of humor.
Survivors include her children, Denise Chandler and husband, Robert Jr, and Keith Girlinghouse, all of Vinton, and Rod Girlinghouse and wife, Mavis of Buna, Texas; and five grandchildren, Shalanda Abel and husband, Bobby, Jared Chandler, Jacob Chandler, Jack Chandler, and Kylah Girlinghouse.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Johnny Girlinghouse; sister, Loretta Robinson; and her parents, Duffy and Ethel Guidry.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 20, in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. The Rev. Paul Boughan will officiate. Burial will be in Cormier Cemetery in Vinton. Visitation will be 5 - 9 p.m. on Wednesday and will resume at Thursday at 8 a.m. until time of service.
