Dorothy Hines Cochran
September 16, 1921 - October 11, 2011

Dorothy Marie Jenkins Hines Cochran, a long-time Henderson CPA, passed away in Longview on October 11, 2011. She was 90. She was born on September 16, 1921 in Winnfield, Louisiana, the oldest daughter of Mallory Jenkins and Georgia Houston Jenkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Stafford C. Hines, husband Charles Y. Cochran and grandson, Bradley Lemmerman.

Dorothy is survived by sisters Janice Jenkins and Elsa McLean, of Tucson, Arizona, Nan Wilson of Atlanta, Georgia and Sissy Ryan of Shreveport, Louisiana. She is also survived by her sons and daughters-in-law; Stafford and Aurora Hines of Henderson; David and Fay Hines of Longview; John Sr. and Linda Hines of Katy; Bill and Barbara Hines of Mont Belvieu and daughter and son-in-law, Georgia and Wayne Crawley of Austin. Her grandchildren are, Nena Peden, Scott and Erin Hines, John Jr. and Susan Scobie Hines, Jeff and Tammy Hines, Bryan Lemmerman, Wesley and Kristin Hines, Brooke Hines and David Harber and Sarah Crawley and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by friends Charles and Louise Cochran and family.

Dorothy grew up in Winnfield, Louisiana and attended school at Louisiana Normal College in Natchitoches, where she met Stafford Hines. They married in 1940 and for several years, lived in Baton Rouge where Dorothy developed a love of food and cooking, which she generously passed on to her children. They moved to Henderson in 1952 and in 1959 began their CPA practice.

Although she didn't complete her college degree, Dorothy became a CPA in 1973 becoming a partner in Hines & Hines, CPAs. She loved the practice of accounting and appreciated her clients. She found their businesses fascinating. She married Charlie Cochran in 2001. They loved to travel, taking many ``road trips'' until his death in 2005. In addition to her family and her profession, Dorothy loved to travel, garden, cook and play bridge.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 5 p.m. in the evening until 7p.m. in the evening on Friday, October 14, 2011 at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. Internment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home in Henderson.
