Douglas B. “Doug” Smith

Funeral services celebrating the life of Douglas B. “Doug” Smith will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2014, in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville, with Reverend Herb Dickerson officiating, assisted by Richard Swain. Burial will follow in Robertson Family Kitchen's Creek Cemetery, Ball.

Visitation will be observed at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and resume on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be David Elliott, Grady Atwell, Don Smith, Spencer Griffith, Bo Shillings and Joseph Hawthorne. Honorary pallbearers are Bud Moses, Robbie Duncan and Mike Duncan.

Douglas B. “Doug” Smith, 69, of Ball, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, in Alexandria.

Doug was a longtime member of Cowboy Church, Pineville and a Board Member for the Ball Zoning Commission. During his working life he was a Certified Water Operator. He will be greatly missed but not forgotten.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Nellie McCormick Smith; sister, Ruth Steele and a brother, Tim Smith.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Carol Poole Smith; son, Donald R. Smith; stepdaughters, Monica Francis, Heather Elliott, Karey Yates; brothers, Wendall Smith, Mark Smith; 5 grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.

The family has designated St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 3704, Memphis, TN, 38173, for memorial contributions.
