Doug Cooley

OPELOUSAS -- Funeral services for Douglas Cooley,73, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas.

Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.

Doug walked through the valley of death with Jesus and now is safe in the home that Jesus promised him, free from suffering and pain. He now is enjoying life to the fullest.

The Pastors Benny and Nancy Reppond will conduct the service and will be assisted by the Rev. Gregory Voss.

Douglas Dalton Cooley was born March 22, 1934, in Deridder, LA and was a resident of Opelousas. He died at 11:29 a.m. July 8, 2007, in the Opelousas General Health System.

Mr. Cooley is best described by his family as a man that had a deep love for his family as well as having a great affection for gardening and animals.

Survivors include wife, Iris Stoute Cooley, of Opelousas; son, Dennis Cooley and his wife, Elaine, of Lafayette; daughter, Gwen St. Cyr and husband, Steve, of Port Barre; four grandchildren, Nick Trussell and wife, Jenni, Windy Maitreme and husband, Nathan, Jacob Cooley and Micah Cooley; a step grandson, Joshua St. Cyr; and three great grandchildren, Morgan, Tommy, and Claire Trussell.

Mr. Cooley was preceded in death by his parents, Bateman and Nellie Gray Cooley; and a grandchild, Blake Montgomery.

Visiting hours will be observed Monday, July 9, 2009, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas and will continue Tuesday, from 8 a.m. until service time.

There will be a time of prayer reflection held at 7 p.m. Monday.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to doctors Blanchard, Barthel, Hammet, Arzola, Blaylock, Blaine, and Santiago as well as the entire nursing staff in both P.C.U and I.C.U. at Opelousas General Health System.
