Doyle Clayton Daniel
September 26, 1937 - August 1, 2014

A courageous inspiration to everyone who knew him. Doyle went to be with the Lord August 1, 2014 after fighting a long hard battle with cancer. Born on September 26, 1937, in Southwest Ouachita Parish; to George Noel and Estelle Hobbs Daniel. He attended school at Watson, Lenwil, and Crosley Elementary and graduated from West Monroe High School in 1956. Doyle was an active member of WMHS Distribution Education Club serving as parliamentarian. He was elected State Parliamentarian at the State Convention in 1955.

Doyle served his country in the LA National Guard and the U.S. Army. He attended cooking classes and became one of the best, “Mess Sargent”, in the unit. He worked at Olin Matheson Paper Mill, and Unisys Corporation from which he retired after 32 years as Field Service Engineer.

Doyle is preceded in death by his parents and oldest son, Dennis Clayton Daniel. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mattie Holcomb Daniel.

He leaves 2 sons, Daryl Keith Daniel and Derek Lance Daniel and wife Leslie. Also survived by 3 loving sisters: Clo Pitre, Marie Walter and husband Tom, and Sharon Smith; all of West Monroe. Special in-laws; Roscoe Holcomb and wife Joyce, Gaylord Roberts and wife Dorothy. Six grandchildren: Dustin Daniel and wife Amanda, Heather Ruff, Clayton Daniel and wife Jennifer, Magain Middleton, Dawson Daniel, and Cody Daniel. Seven great grandchildren, whom he adored: Brayden Jones, Luke Daniel, Kinsley King, Bryleigh Jones, Paizley Neathery, Devin Daniel, and Tallen King. Also several nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts.

Doyle was a diligent Christian and a member of Liberty Grove Church of God. He taught Sunday School for over 50 years. He served on various boards and committees. He was a devoted bible student and studied the word of God daily. He loved teaching and sharing his knowledge of the Bible to his Sunday School class.

His hobbies were hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, and gardening. He loved cooking for his family and friends; his favorite was blueberry pound cake and his tea cakes. He was also a large fan of the West Monroe Rebel Football. He loved Friday nights in Rebel Stadium , and the trips to New Orleans for the state championship games.

Pallbearers will be Bob Harrell, Marlon Monzingo, Bo Fite, George Zeigler, Ken Waggoner, Donnie Futch, Ronnie Chilton and Gator Wallace.

Honorary pallbearers are Dwayne Cummings, and members of the Liberty Grove Church of God Challengers Class.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM at Liberty Grove Church of God, Sunday, August 3, 2014. Officiating is Rev. Ray Jones, Rev. Steve Nelson and Lary Horne.

Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Calhoun, LA. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.

Memorials can be made to the Liberty Grove Church of God children's building.

The family wishes to thank Premier Hospice and their staff for all they have done.
