Last Civil War Veteran In Harrison County Dies at 96
Ebenezer Robert Glass, 96, who came to Texas in 1872 and Harrison County's last veteran of the war between the states, died Friday night here and funeral services were conducted, Saturday at San Antonio.
Glass was born in Bibb County, Alabama, September 29, 1846. He joined the Confederate army at 15, serving under Gen. Bedford Forrest. In a battle near Selma, Ala. his hat was shot off three times. ``I hesitated a moment before picking it up the third time'', he replied.
Glass moved to Texas after the war and lived in Falls County 35 years. He later lived in New Mexico, but returned to Cotulla, LaSalle Co., TX. He has made his home here with his son several years.
He is survived by one son, E. E. Glass, Marshall, TX, two daughters, Mrs. T. H. Poole, Cotulla, TX, and Dr. Hazel Glass, San Antonio, TX, and 2 brothers Walter and Felix of Waco, TX; 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Confederate Veteran Dies at Kin's Home
E. R. P. Glass, 96, of Marshall, father of Dr. Hazel Glass, 814 Camden St., died Friday afternoon.
A Confederate veteran, he had been brought to his daughter's home from Marshall two days before his death. Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. T. H. Poole, Cotulla, and a son, E. E. Glass, Marshall.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon.
