Ed Silk, Father of Wire Editor in Monroe, Dies

RAYVILLE -- Funeral services were held here at 2 p.m. today for Ed Silk, 75, who died at his home Thursday afternoon. Services were held at the First Baptist church [sic] of Rayville with Dr. H. R. Herrington officiating. Interment was in the Masonic cemetery under the direction of the Catron-Gay Funeral Home.

He was the father of Oland Silk, telegraph editor of the Monroe News-Star. Silk, whose residence was on Route Four, Rayville, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Susie Silk; three daughters, Mrs. F. N. Roberts, of Dallas, Tex., Mrs. J. H. Sorey and Gladys Southall, both of Rayville; two sons, Allen L. Silk, of Rayville, and Oland Silk, of Monroe; one sister, Mrs. Julia Hunter, of Rayville; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Fred Kidd, Walter Kidd, Ed JOnes, Lawson Travis, Ernest Brown, and Jim Aycock.
