Mr. W. E. Taunton Dies Suddenly At Home Near Butler

Funeral for Mr. Taunton Was Conducted at Mt. Pisgah Church Sunday Morning.

Funeral service for Mr. W. E. Taunton was conducted at Mt. Pisgah church Sunday, 10 a.m., by Rev. J. H. Stanford.

While in declining health for a number of months, death came to Mr. Taunton almost without warning about noon Saturday.

Mr. Taunton was a son of the late Mr. B. M. C. Taunton and the late Mrs. Mary Bone Taunton. He was born in this county 75 years ago and had spent practically all his life in this county. By profession he was a farmer and was engaged in agricultural pursuits until failing health necessitated his retir[i]ng some time ago.

Surviving the deceased are: Four daughters, Miss Mary Taunton, Mrs. Hugh Bone, Mrs. Eva Joiner, all of Butler; Mrs. J. T. Orrell Jr., of Forrest Park; five sons, Emory and Albert Taunton of Butler; Calvin Taunton of Doraville; Wayne Taunton, Akron, Ohio; Elmer Taunton, Loredo [sic Laredo], Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Emily Collins, Mrs. Susan Jenkins, Mrs. Parenella Cox; three brothers, A. G., Lonnie and Allen Taunton. Seven grandchildren also survive.

Serving as pallbearers at the funeral were: Messrs Tom Fountain, Archie Barfield, Leon Theus, Brown Eubanks, Grady Taunton and Henry Peacock.

Edwards Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
