EDELL EVANS, 83, of Brownsville, Tenn., retired from the Army, and former employee of the University of Memphis ROTC Warehouse and Mega Food Warehouse, died Thursday in Humboldt, Tenn. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park. He was a World War II and Korean War Army veteran, president of the Greater Memphis Collie Club, and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Association for Uniformed Services, Disabled American Veterans and Military Widows, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Sardis Baptist Church in Raleigh, Miss., Poplar Corner Baptist Church in Brownsville, Tenn., American Kennel Club, Memphis Kennel Club, Collie Club of America, Texas Mason Lodge 1114 in Fort Worth, National Geographic Society and Texas Scottish Rite.
Mr. Evans, the widower of Eunice James Evans and husband of Alma Irene Dye Evans, also leaves a daughter, Loretta K. Evans Fulghum; a stepdaughter, Jean Strong; four stepsons, Billy Dye, Laron Dye, Gary Dye and Wayne Dye; a sister, Dorothy Yate of Magee, Miss., and several grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be sent to Hospice South or Poplar Corner Baptist Church Building Fund.
