Edgar Johnston Rites Are Held At Salem Church

Funeral services for Mr. Edgar Johnston, 74, of Route 1, Lake, were held on Saturday afternoon, December 14, at 2:00 from the Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Albert Kelly and Rev. Wilbur Walters officiating. Military graveside rites followed in the church cemetery. Ott & Lee Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Johnston passed away in the S. E. Lackey Memorial Hospital on Thursday morning following a short illness. He was a native of Scott County, a member of the Salem Baptist Church, a veteran of World War I, a member of the American Legion, and a retired farmer.

The survivors are his wife, Mrs. Molly Johnston; four daughters, Mrs. Sarah Posey of Dubach, La., Mrs. Sybil Waltman of Moss Point, Mrs. Ramona Parker of Route 1, Lake, and Mrs. Peggy James of Camden, Tenn.; one son, James Johnston of Lake; nineteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. L. R. Chapman of Florence, Mrs. Lena Blair of Lake, and Mrs. Travis G. Hollingsworth of Lake; and one brother, Wright Johnston of Lake.

The pallbearers were Mike Mills, Kenneth McLeod, James E. Hamm, Graydon Lay, Terrell White, and Travis Glenn Hollingsworth.
