E. R. ``Joe'' Eddings
age 93, of Minor Heights, AL passed away Friday, April 9, 2010. He was a member of Minor Heights First Baptist Church. He was retired from Greyhound Bus Company. Mr. Eddings proudly served his country as a member of the U. S. Marine Corp during WWII where he participated in action against the enemy while the American flag was being raised at Iwo Jima.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Ruth. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather.
He is survived by his son, Don (Charlotte) Eddings; his daughters, Jo Ann (Larry) Damron and Elaine Eddings (Borden) Finch; ten grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; his brothers, Marvin (Frances) Eddings and Bill Eddings; his sisters, Margaret Weldon and Jennie Faye (Jim) Dupriest.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home with Rev. Hollis Cooner officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
