Adele was a top student in every class throughout all her school years culminating with the honor of valedictorian. Adele met her husband of 55 years in 1935 in Crosby, Mississippi. Adele was very proud of the fact that she was a stand-out high school basketball player, often surprising talented men by outplaying them! She would still occasionally shoot baskets into her 70's. She attributed her longevity in life to “good country living” and always taught her kids and grandkids that manners and respect will get you far in life. Adele was active in the Second Baptist Church in Houston, serving as the Sunday school secretary. She was also the past president of The Ladies Fraternal Order of Eagles. Adele loved to travel as much as she could, taking trips to Alaska and Hawaii, amongst others. She had a particular fondness for visiting Mississippi. Mrs. Casanova loved her family and was often the glue that held that family together. Many family members would consider her the matriarch of the family. She loved to play jokes on her kids and grandkids. She also had a fondness for dancing, doing the Charleston dance on her 101st birthday!
