Edward Arnold “Ed” Sikes
A resident of Denham Springs, he died at his home and went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ at 9:44 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, after a long battle with diabetes and heart disease. He was 52 and a native of Baton Rouge.
Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, Baton Rouge, on Thursday, Jan. 3, was from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home Friday from 10 a.m. until funeral service at noon, conducted by Paul Radosevich, with special music by longtime friend Melvin Simpson. Entombment in Crestview Mausoleum at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Richmond Meador Sikes, Denham Springs; two daughters and a son-in-law, Amanda Sikes and Brandy and Benjamin “Ben” Shaffett, all of Denham Springs; grandchildren, Presley Shaffett and Anthony “AJ” Shaffett, both of Denham Springs; sister, Dolores Lewis Holloway, Baton Rouge; nephews and nieces, Max and Rhonda Lewis and Scott and Laura Holloway, all of Baton Rouge; great-nephews and niece, Ryan Lewis, Megan Lewis and Hayden Holloway; and many extended family members and friends.
Preceded in death by his father and mother, Arnold and Irene Sikes; and brother-in-law, Max Lewis.
Pallbearers will be Max Lewis, Scott Holloway, Ben Shaffett, Eric Hines, Scott Whitehead and Danny Teer.
He was a former longtime member of Park Forest Baptist Church and recently of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church.
