Edward D. Fields
November 4, 1924 - January 6, 2012

Edward D. Fields, age 87, of Crossett, AR passed away on January 6, 2012 at Cherry Ridge Nursing Home. He was born on November 4, 1924 in Ferriday, LA to his parents, Charles W. and Nancy Elizabeth Maples Fields. Mr. Fields retired from Georgia Pacific after 42 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Mr. Fields was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and two sisters; his wife, Lily Grace Fields and a granddaughter, Robin Cascio.

Edward was an avid sportsman. He loved to fish and hunt with his son, Dean and old friends. His favorite spring and summer pastime was gardening and growing the largest and tastiest tomatoes he could grow. He stated his favorite memories of being in the military were when he joined forces to invade Normandy Beach, Omaha Beach and as far as internal France, liberating small towns and villages in France.

His survivors include one son, Dean Fields (Debby) of Crossett, AR; one daughter, Wanda Cascio (Charles) of New Iberia, LA; one sister, Nita Stapp of Rayville, LA; five grandchildren, Joey Cascio, Bryan Fields, Donna McDonald, Michelle Fortier, Crystal Fields Terrell and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Hillis officiating. Interment followed at Rolfe Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, AR. (www.jonesservice.com)
