Edward Gloster Hailes, 68, of Ventura Drive, a retired construction materials salesman, died of heart failure Saturday at Mississippi Methodist Center in Jackson.

Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Hailes was a native of Moselle and had lived in Jackson for 50 years. He attended Jones Junior College. He was a veteran of the Korean War.

He was a retired salesman for Jackson Steel Co. and Walker Jones Equipment Co. He was a member of Riverside Independent Methodist Church.

Survivors are: wife, Betty Baskin Hailes of Jackson; son, Edward Clay Hailes of Jackson; stepson, John Winston Cottrell of Jackson; stepdaughter, Ann C. Easterwood of Raymond; sisters, Patsy Hailes Wilson of Brandon and Peggy Hailes Pickel of Clinton; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
