Edward Calender Hardy, 81, of Learned, passed away on August 22, 2016 at the Mississippi State Veteran's Home.
He was born on February 20, 1935 to his late parents, John Thomas Hardy and Eleanor Rogers Hardy. He enlisted in the US Navy at age 17 and served as a diesel mechanic on board the USS Edisto, which was an Antarctica Ice Breaker vessel, for much of his career. He retired in 1971 from the Navy and worked at various machine shops in the Jackson area. He was a member of Holy Savior Catholic Church in Clinton.
Mr. Hardy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pauline Hardy; sons, John C. Hardy of Jackson, Jeffrey W. Hardy of Pennsylvania and Joseph E. Hardy of Florence; grandchildren, Tyler Hardy, Shelby Hardy, Margaret Hardy Nations, Gavin Hardy and Gabriel Hardy; and a brother, John Thomas Hardy of Flora.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Clinton from 5-7pm with a Rosary Service at 7pm. The Funeral Mass is Thursday at 11 am at the church with visitation one hour prior. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Natchez Trace Memorial Park.
