EDWARD LEE HAMPTON, SR.
Edward Lee Hampton, Sr., 83, of 905 W. 16th St., died at 1:20 a.m. Sunday at Sartori Memorial hospital.
He was born Aug. 17, 1875, at Jefferson City, Mo., the sun [sic son] of Tom and Julia Rice Hampton.
He was raised in Jefferson City.
Mr. Hampton married Lizzie Prince on May 10, 1914, at Clarks, La. They had lived in Cedar Falls since 1954.
He retired in 1952 as assistant manager of an auto body repair shop in Jefferson City.
Mr. Hampton was a member of the First Baptist church in Cedar Falls.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Dr. Nellie Hampton of 905 W. 16th St., an instructor at Iowa State Teachers College, and Mrs. L. F. Tegarden of Orleans, Ind.; a son, E. L. Hampton, Jr., of Columbia, Mo.; a brother, W. T. Hampton of St. Louis, Mo. and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist church. The Rev. Howard Johnson will officiate and burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
Nelson funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
