Edward L. Wilson
Edward L. Wilson passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2010 in Dallas, Texas.
He was born on July 6, 1914 in Meadville, Mississippi to Lillian and John Wilson and was preceded in death by his loving wife of 78 years, Pauline.
Edward proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 30 years, retiring at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 in 1969. His Army career led him through World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam, with many peacetime tours of duty in Europe and the U.S. He was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Purple Heart.
Edward was a devout Christian and a loyal member of the Second Baptist Church of Dallas where he was a Deacon and taught Sunday School. He enjoyed gardening and landscaping.
Edward is survived by his daughter, Grace Johnson and her husband, Jerry, of Dallas, Texas; grandsons Greg Johnson and Doug Johnson of Dallas, Texas; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are nieces Carolyn Halbert of Waxahachie, Texas and Judy Nolan of Pottsboro, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at Restland Funeral Home, Wildwood Chapel, at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, September 27, 2010.
