Edward Zeigler

J. Edward Zeigler, 74, of Osyka, died July 23, 2005, at Camellia Estates in McComb.

Visitation is today at Catchings Funeral Home of McComb from 9 a.m. until services there at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jerry Terrell and the Rev. Jimmy Phelps will officiate. Burial will be in Guiding Light cemetery.

Mr. Zeigler was born July 2, 1931, in Tangipahoa, La., to Julius N. ``Juel'' Zeigler and Mattie Brooks Zeigler.

He was a retired dairy farmer and was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and gardener. He attended Guiding Light Pentecostal Church in Magnolia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, a granddaughter, Ronda Mapes; two sisters, Beatrice Ready and Elmease Nichols; two sons-in-law, Tommy Mapes and Craig Dillon; his father-in-law, Willie James Phelps; and a brother-in-law, James Phelps.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Rubie Phelps Zeigler of Osyka; three sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn Edward and Tonya Zeigler of Denham Springs, La., David Warren and Glenda Zeigler of Atlanta and Gary Wayne and Delisa Zeigler of Osyka; four daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Jean and Andy Taylor and Teresa Ann and Ernie Sanchez, all of Osyka, and Glenda Faye and Jimmy Phelps and Sandra Kay and Jerry Burges, all of Magnolia; three brothers, James, Otis Ray and J.A. Zeigler, all of Magnolia; his mother-in-law, Rutha Phelps of Magnolia and Kentwood, La.; 20 grandchildren,12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Mapes, Justin Blades, Michael Dean, Earnest Phelps, Brandon Dillon and Micah Tolar.

Honorary pallbearers are Cody Phelps, Kevin Hamilton, David Zeigler and Ricky Mapes.
