Edwin C. Monroe Dies; Services Set Saturday

Funeral services for Edwin C. "Buck" Monroe, 68, of 1538 Jonesboro Road, West Monroe, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Monroe with the Revs. Henry J. Mott and James White officiating.

Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery with Masonic graveside services.

Mr. Monroe died Thursday afternoon at Glenwood Hospital after a brief illness. He was a member and past master of Cadeville Masonic Lodge 229 and member of the Shreveport Consistory.

He was a member of El Karubah Shrine in Shreveport and Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Gladys Crain Monroe of West Monroe; four daughters, Mrs. C. Miller Frey of Haynesville, Mrs. Kenneth L. Berry of West Monroe, Mrs. Robert L. Moody Jr. of Springhill and Mrs. James T. Harrison of Dallas, Tex.; his father, Henry C. Monroe of West Monroe; a brother, Sidney J. Monroe of Monroe; six sisters Mrs. Paul Case of West Monroe, Mrs. Victor Wilds of Grayson, Mrs. Arter Thornton of Bosco, Mrs. Ethell Ainsworth of Monroe, Mrs. Ruth Hogg of Lamesa, Tex. and Mrs. Myrtle Parseqian of Fort Worth, Tex.; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be George Greer, Dwight May, Ronald May, Arnold Thornton, Tommy Rainer, Rodney Cannon, Jack Garr [sic Gaar] and Don Garr [sic Gaar].

Relative of Winn Residents Dies In West Monroe

E. C. “Buck” Monroe, 68, of 1528 Jonesboro Road, West Monroe, died unexpectedly of a heart attack, Thursday, April 6, 1972.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Monroe. Masonic graveside services and burial were at Memorial Park Cemetery at Monroe.

Survivors include his widow, the former Gladys Crain, formerly of Gaars Mill-Sikes area; four daughters, his father, one brother, six sisters, and nine grandchildren.

He was a brother in law of Mrs. Roy Gaar of Gaars Mill and the uncle of Jack Gaar of Winnfield.
