Effie Etheridge Johnson
Effie Etheridge Johnson, 91, a longtime resident of Magnolia, died June 10, 2006, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, La.
Visitation is 5 to 9 tonight at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb,and 9 a.m. Tuesday until services there at 2 p.m. The Rev. Curtis Shelton and the Rev. Rayfield Ratcliff will officiate. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born March 15, 1915, in Liberty to Timothy Etheridge and Matilda Whittington Etheridge.
She was a homemaker and a member of New Harvest Church of God of Prophecy for over 50 years.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Edgar ``Ed'' Johnson; one son, Paul Johnson; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; seven brothers, Johnny, Marcus, Bartley, Eugene, Quincy, Charlie and Walter Whittington; and one sister, Nancy Whittington.
Survivors include five children and their spouses, Lottie J. McTaggart and Thomas of Albany, La., Earnestine J. Williams and Joseph of Lake Charles, William Johnson and Linda of Magnolia, Bea Gray and Edward of Texarkana, Texas, and Edgar Johnson and Rhonda of Albany, La. ; 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Todd McTaggart, Joe Williams, Henry Johnson, Billy Johnson, Kevin Johnson and Brett Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Bordelon, Dakota Smith, Jason Smith, Walt McCoy, Keith Strickland, Chad Strickland and Eric Terrell.
