Elaine Milam LaRue

Elaine Milam LaRue, 89, died at home in Shreveport with her family by her side on March 9, 2007. The Rev. Rolly Walker will lead funeral services in honor of Mrs. LaRue at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, Louisiana, on Monday, March 12, 2007, beginning at 2 p.m. Graveside services will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m., at the funeral Home. Elaine was born in Dodson, Louisiana, on Feb. 7, 1918, to Myrtle Smith and John Barton Milam of Ruston.

She earned a degree in music and elementary education from Louisiana Tech University. After teaching school for a short time, she devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren. Elaine was an accomplished pianist and loved entertaining and sing-along with family and friends. Even her numerous great grandchildren were blessed to enjoy Elaine's musical talents up until just days before her passing.

In addition to music, she enjoyed acrobatic dancing as a child and tennis throughout her 60s and 70s. Elaine was a humble servant to the Lord and a long-time member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. She was also a charter member of the Garden Study Club of Ruston.

Elaine is survived by her children Renee LaRue Hilburn and husband Sam of Shreveport; Jean LaRue Rini of New Orleans, and John Hayden LaRue, Jr. of Houston; grandchildren, Cary Hilburn and wife Jennifer and Marcie Hilburn Harner and husband Ryan, all of Shreveport; Elisa Ricca Draper and husband Robert of Rye, NY; Elizabeth Ricca Huete and husband, James of Atlanta, Ga.; Nancy Ricca Meyorwitz and husband Steve of Ridgefield, Conn.; Victor Rini and wife Monique of New Orleans; Anthony Rini and wife Misti of Atlanta, Ga.; Zachery Rini of Lake Charles; John Hayden LaRue III, Maxwell LaRue, and Mary Grace Elaine LaRue of Houston; and 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are sister-in-law Hazel Milam of Ruston, and many uncles, nephews and nieces.

Elaine's grandsons will be the pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Reagan Odom and Bill Baskin.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband John H. LaRue and brother Don Milam.
