Elaine Dawson
Elaine Merle Womack Dawson, 71, of Liberty, died May 31, 2010, at M.D. Anderson Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
Visitation is 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster and continues there 9 a.m. Friday until services at 10. The Rev. Jan Holloway and the Rev. Stacy McCollum will officiate. Burial will be in New Hope Methodist Protestant Church Cemetery, Gloster.
Elaine was born July 27, 1938, in Baton Rouge, La.
She graduated from Istrouma High School in 1956. She married Nelson Lamar Dawson on July 23, 1960, and had two children, Dana Rebecca Dawson and Lane Lamar Dawson.
In Baton Rouge, Elaine was an insurance agent for many years and a member of Foster Road Baptist Church for more than 20 years. An active member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Gloster, she taught Sunday school, vacation Bible school and worked in the church office. Elaine was an accomplished seamstress and loved spending time in her sewing room and attending sewing conferences.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John L. Womack and Serena Wax Womack; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Breeden; and a sister-in-law, Terry Womack.
Survivors include her husband, Nelson Lamar Dawson; a daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Bo Capdau; a son and daughter-in-law, Lane and Katherine Dawson; grandchildren, Michelle Capdau, Conner Capdau, Felicia Capdau, Andrew Dawson, Madeline Dawson and Rebecca Dawson; sisters, Betty Breeden and Virginia Womack; and sister-in-law, Janet Womack.
Pallbearers will be Conner Capdau, Tommy Womack, Carlos Dawson, Chris Harrelson, Dillan McCollum and Zachary McCollum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Hope Methodist Protestant Church Cemetery, 5271 New Hope Road, Gloster, MS 39638, for cemetery maintenance.
