Elbert J. Martin

ROSCOE (RNS) -- Elbert J. Martin, 82, of Roscoe died at 1:15 a.m. Saturday at Simmons Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church of Roscoe.

The Rev. Roy Elmore, pastor, and the Rev. James Patterson, a Methodist minister from Knox City, will officiate. Military graveside rites will follow at Roscoe Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.

Born Oct. 23, 1893, he married Valtia J. Hanes Nov. 26, 1919, in Abilene. He was a retired tailor and a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife; a brother, Marvin J. Martin of Abilene; and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Land and Miss Ollie Mae Martin, both of Roscoe.
