Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Centuries Funeral Home Chapel in Shreveport, La.
SHREVEPORT, La. --- Funeral services for Mrs. Eleanor R. Canty, age 83, of Shreveport will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2001 in Centuries Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Jim Graves, associate pastor of First Assembly of God in Shreveport. Burial will follow in Forest Park West.
Mrs. Canty passed away Thursday, June 14, 2001 at Christus Highland Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born and raised in Laurel, Miss. and had been a former resident of Austin, Texas and Gulfport, Miss. She had resided in Shreveport for the past year and a half. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gulfport.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Walter Carter and Frank Canty; four brothers and a son-in-law, James H. McManus.
She is survived by two daughters, Faye McManus of Gulfport and Kaye Daniels and husband, Richard of Austin, Texas; a son, Ken Carter and wife, Sugar of Shreveport, La.; a sister, Christine Jordan of Temple, Texas; a brother, Charles Reddoch of Jackson; twelve grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
Our thanks and gratitude to the staff of the Guest House Nursing Home for their care and compassion during her residency.
She was a kind and gentle lady whose smiling face brought joy to those she touched. She was affectionately called ``Mimi'' by those who knew and loved her and our memories of you fill our hearts with love forever.
