Eletha Green Walley

Funeral services for Eletha Green Walley, 86, of Waynesboro, were held Tuesday, April 22, 2008, from the Freeman Funeral Home Chapel in Waynesboro, with Dr. Steve Smith officiating. Interment was in the Waynesboro Cemetery.

Born Oct. 13, 1921, and a native of Louin, Walley was a homemaker and was affiliated with the First Baptist Church of Waynesboro. She died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Southern Living specialty care residence in Waynesboro.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Walley and wife Belinda of Waynesboro, and W. W. Walley Jr. of Hattiesburg; two daughters, Eletha Jane Jenkins and husband Danny of Waynesboro, and Charlotte Doherty and husband Gary of Waynesboro; four sisters, Etoile Scott of Waynesboro, Evelyn Leggette of Waynesboro, Lanita Shows of Garden Grove, Calif., and Jackie Beard of Raymond; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Loper and husband Nathan, Jennifer Stevener and husband Joe, Shannon Phillips and husband Eric, Brandon Walley and wife Tia, Daniel Jenkins, Samantha Walley and Micheal Walley; and five great-grandchildren, Zachary Loper, Ethan Loper, Jonah Walley, Coley Jenkins and Sarah Stevener.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. W. W. Walley; her mother, Isadore Green; her father, Andrew Jackson Green; and two sisters, Etelka Cartier and Margie Carr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Baptist Children's Village's Powell-Walley Group Home in Wayne County in care of the First Baptist Church of Waynesboro.
