ELGIN LEE MCLAURINE

The funeral for Elgin Lee McLaurine, 85, of Laverne, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Laverne. The Revs. Michael Wilcox and Gaylon Cox will officiate. Burial will be in Laverne Cemetery. Arrangements are by Myatt Funeral Home, Laverne. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born Jan. 2, 1922, in Wills Point, Texas, to Henry Clay and Eula June Bogard McLaurine and died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at Newman Memorial Hospital, Shattuck.

He attended school in Wills Point and served with the Air Force during World War II.

He married Mary ``Katherine'' Appleton Oct. 16, 1945. He was a pumper for Gulf Oil Co. for more than 41 years and a member of First Baptist Church of Laverne, where he served as usher.

Surviving are his wife, Mary, of Laverne; one son, William ``Lee'' McLaurine of Laverne; one daughter, Margarette Ann Hendrick of Laverne; one sister, Marie Elftman of Lovington, N.M.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son and a sister.
