E. V. Rugg, 66, Railway Engineer

E. V. Rugg, 66, a native of Wendfield [sic Winnfield], La., died yesterday afternoon at his home, 620 East Second. He was a retired engineer for the Cotton Belt.

Mr. Rugg began work for the Cotton Belt in 1918 and retired in 1949. He was a member of Pine Bluff Lodge No. 69, F AND AM, and the brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen. He was a member of the Hawley Memorial Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Georgia Smith Rugg; a daughter, Mrs. E. R. Simmons of Pine Bluff; two foster daughters, Mrs. Louise Green of Battle Creek, Mich. and Mrs. Madeline Pettazoni of Springfield, Mass.; a sister, Mrs. Vashti Johnson of Shreveport and a grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Robinson Mortuary by Rev. George Kerr and Rev. John McCormack. ________________________________________________

Eli Rugg Services Held Today at 4

Funeral services for Eli V. Rugg, 66, retired Cotton Belt Railway fireman, were held at 4 p.m. today at the Robinson Mortuary with the Rev. George Kerr, pastor of Hawley Memorial Methodist Church, and the Rev. John M. McCormack, pastor of Lakeside Methodist church, in charge. Mr. Rugg died Saturday.

Burial was in Graceland cemetery, with graveside services conducted by the Pine Bluff Masonic Lodge No. 69, F. and A. Masons.

Active pallbearers were: E. J. Enderby, Fred Gammill, S. A. Lawhorn, R. L. Massey, Guy Shell, Paul Turley, E. L. Carter, George Rowe and A. E. McCoy.
