ELIGAH NEWCOMB

Eligah Newcomb, 64, of Route 9, died Thursday at Jones County Community Hospital after a brief illness.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, with burial in Sunset Gardens Cemetery. The Revs. Henry Freeman and Jimmy Carr will officiate.

He was a lifelong resident of Smith County and was retired from the Masonite Corp. He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Fannie Westbrook.

He is survived by his widow, Ordell Thornton Newcomb of Laurel; sons, Neil Newcomb of Laurel and Paul Newcomb of Jackson; brothers, Bob Newcomb, Bill Newcomb and Nevels Newcomb, all of Laurel, and B.G. Newcomb of Ellisville; sisters, Minnie Allgood of Bay Springs and Mary Evans of Laurel; and one grandson.

Pallbearers will be Max L. Nelson, W.E. Sykes, David Lyons, M.L. Herrington, Joseph Allgood, Lemon Sumrall and Mike Nelson.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
