Rushing Jr., Elisha C.

A native and longtime resident of Amite County, Miss., he died Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at Southwest Regional Cardiovascular Institute of Mississippi in McComb, Miss. He was born July 15, 1928, to E.C. Rushing and Cepha Anders Rushing. He was a retired plant operator with Kaiser Aluminum in Baton Rouge. He was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Miss.

He is survived by three sons, Ronald C. Rushing and his wife, Carolyn, of Prairieville, Daniel B. Rushing and Michael Rushing, both of Gonzales; two daughters, Theresa Talbert and her husband, Glen, of Baton Rouge and Mary Jane Rushing, of Gonzales; two brothers, Bill Rushing and Glynn Rushing, both of Gloster, Miss.; a sister, Doris Poole, of Centreville, Miss.; seven grandchildren, Bryan C. Rushing and his wife, EunSook, Adrienne Rushing, Erica Rushing, Joshua Rushing, Sarah Rushing, Leigh Moore and her husband, Richard, and Gregg Talbert; and five great-grandchildren, Madison Rushing, Adelyn Hale and Jude T. Rushing, Catherine Grace Moore and Laura Carroll Moore.

Visiting at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster, Miss., on Sunday, Jan. 16, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Visiting at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, near Gloster, on Monday, Jan. 17, from noon until funeral services at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Alton Foster. Interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant Memorial Cemetery near Gloster.
