MRS. BESS MOORE BREWER

Mrs. Elizabeth (Bess) Moore Brewer, 55, resident of Pine Bluff for more than thirty-seven years, wife of George C. Brewer, died Sunday morning at 4:15 a.m. at the family residence, 409 South Linden street, following an illness of seven months. Her condition had been regarded as critical the past several weeks.

Mrs. Brewer was born in Sheridan on Nov. 21, 1894, daughter of the late Rev. George W. Rice, a Methodist minister and the late Mary Docia Lee Rice, pioneer Arkansas residents.

She spent her girlhood in Bradley county and received her elementary training in the schools of Warren, completing her education at Hermitage.

She was married in Warren to Mr. Brewer, an employee of the Sheet Metal Department of the Cotton Belt Railway company on Oct. 2, 1912, at the time coming to Pine Bluff where the Brewer family had continued to reside.

Mrs. Brewer, who resided on the Dollarway road for several years was recognized as one of the organizers of the Dollarway Community Sunday School class of which she served as superintendent.

She was a member of the First Methodist church of this city, a charter member of the Custer Bible Class and the Women's Society of Christian Service and a past president of the Builders Class. She was also a member of the Y.W.C.A., a Sewing club and a Breakfast club.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Brewer leaves one son, Dick George Brewer of Pine Bluff; three sisters, Mrs. M. A. Jackson of Camden, Mrs. W. C. Durham of Shreveport, La., and Mrs. Howell Richey of Corpus Christi, Texas; a brother, J. W. Rice of Port Allen, La., a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Brewer of Pine Bluff and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon from the chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son mortuary in charge of the Rev. Kenneth L. Spore, pastor of First Methodist church and the Rev. John L. Hoover, pastor of Carr Memorial Methodist church.

Active pallbearers were: Emmett Sanders, R. H. Lewis, C. F. Barthet, Ezra Cochran, S. D. Stillwell, D. D. Hunter, Roe Sowards and Offie Lites, Sr.

Honorary pallbearers were: Dr. George B. Talbot, Joel Johnson, R. J. Siefert, Ted Dansby, Earl A. Adams, Bird Poteet, John Ed Cook, Joe O'Neal, Art Pansze and William H. Greenwood.

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Brewer, 55, well known resident of Pine Bluff for more than thirty-seven years, and wife of George C. Brewer, who died Sunday morning at the family residence, 409 South Linden street, following an illness of seventeen months, were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son mortuary.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Kenneth L. Spore, pastor of First Methodist church and the Rev. John L. Hoover, pastor of Carr Memorial Methodist church.

Burial was in Memorial Park.
