Elizabeth McCarty
Flowood -- Elizabeth W. McCarty, 91, died May 10, 2011 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Union Cemetery in Brandon. Visitation will begin at 12 Noon Saturday at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland.
Mrs. McCarty was born on November 5, 1919, in Luckney, now Flowood, the daughter of the late Robert and Arry Wilson. After completing her education, she began working as a desk clerk at the King Edward Hotel. Mrs. McCarty worked for 10 years as a secretary for the Superintendent of the Rankin County Schools. She later accepted a position at Werlien's Music Company where she worked as the office manager for 15 years.
A life time resident of Flowood, she was a life member of Liberty Baptist Church. Mrs. McCarty loved to travel and especially enjoyed her trips to Europe, Israel, Ireland and to the West Coast of the United States. She enjoyed dancing, playing Bingo and cherished spending time with her family.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Allen I. Ratcliff and Travis E. McCarty and brothers, Nolan I. Wilson and Robert Edgar Wilson, Jr.
She will be remembered most as a beloved mother and devoted grandmother.
Survivors include: daughter, Elizabeth Barnes; son, Robert Allen Ratcliff; son, Charles E. Ratcliff and Phillip R. Ratcliff all of Flowood. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
