2 DEAD, 1 HURT IN AUTO CRASH

Fatalities Occur When Car Is Wrecked Near Columbia

COLUMBIA, La., June 9. -- Two men are dead and the wife of one of the men is in critical condition as the result of a car wreck that occurred a short time before midnight south of Columbia. The dead are Ellie Arvis Brown, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Brown of Clarks, and Larelle Aldrich, 23, of Grayson. Mrs. Inez Aldrich, 19, wife of Aldrich, is a patient in a Columbia clinic. She suffered a fractured skull and internal injuries.

The car got out of control as Brown was driving and plunged off the highway and struck a tree with such force that it overturned and was badly wrecked. It dealt instant death to Brown at the wheel, and Aldrich was so badly injured that he died almost as soon as he had been rushed to a Columbia clinic.

No funeral arrangements had been made for the two victims at noon Wednesday.

Mrs. Brown and her six-months-old child had been passengers in the car but had left it at Grayson and thereby escaped possibly fatal injuries.
