Merle Emmons
Funeral services for Merle Emmons, 73, were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 7, 1981, from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Forest. Rev. W. E. Butler and Rev. Martin Nelson officiated. Interment was made in the Newton Masonic Cemetery.
Emmons passed away early Tuesday morning at the Conva Rest Nursing Home at Newton, following an extended illness. He was a retired carpenter having lived in the Newton area most of his life. He was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Sue Emmons, Route 1, Newton; one daughter, Mrs. William T. (Eleanor) Craven, Sr., Lawrence; one sister, Mrs. Nettie Mae Weaver, Lake; 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Nephews and grandsons served as pallbearers.
