E. C. Cox, 54, Heart Victim

TALLADEGA -- E. C. Cox, 54, owner of the Talladega Motel and Restaurant, died suddenly Monday night following a heart attack.

Mr. Cox had seemed in good health earlier in the evening, according to relatives.

Masonic rites were held Wednesday at the Talladega First Baptist Church with the Rev. T. M. Hamby officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Cox had lived in Talladega for a number of years, and before going into the motel business was agent for the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad here. He was a native of Georgia.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Nelie Ree Cox; two daughters, Mrs. James R. Goodwin, Anniston, and Miss Carolyn Cox, Talladega; one son, Owen Cox, Birmingham, and two grandchildren. His mother, Mrs. J. E. Cox, LaGrange, Ga.; four brothers, J. C. Cox, Honolulu, Hawaii, F. R. Cox, N. G. Cox, and W. T. Cox, all of LaGrange, Ga.; and three sisters, Mrs. Doris Martin, Mobile; Mrs. Hallie W. Phillips and Mrs. I. V. Bridges, both of LaGrange.
