Funeral Services for Mrs. Eloise Adkins Bennett, 91, of San Augustine, Texas will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2009 in Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel in San Augustine with Brother Cliff Durham officiating. Interment will follow in Liberty Hill Memorial Garden in San Augustine County, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2009 in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. Bennett was born December 23, 1917 in Homer, Louisiana, the daughter of John Adkins and Inez McKenzie Adkins, and died December 22, 2009 in San Augustine, Texas. She was a registered nurse serving alongside her husband Dr. Bennett in San Augustine for more than 30 years. Mrs. Bennett was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sister Maxine Adkins Mayo, Shreveport, Louisiana; sisters-in-law: Helen Fry Adkins of Bossier City, Louisiana, Christine Eversoll Adkins of Monroe, Louisiana and Maxine Bennett Lynch of Little Rock, Arkansas; children: Dr. Kenneth R. Bennett and wife Lucette of Jackson, Mississippi, Gaar Bennett of Bossier City, Louisiana, George G. Bennett of Beaumont, Texas, Joseph M. Bennett of San Augustine, Texas, Noel T. Bennett Jr. and wife Vickie of Grapevine, Texas, Annella Bennett Nelson and husband Brad of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Dr. Schultz J. Bennett of Mesa, Arizona; and 17 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Dr. Noel Thomas Bennett; her parents, John and Inez Adkins; brothers, J.B. Adkins and Vernon Adkins; sister Modena Adkins Lowery; and devoted friend Willie Ed Sigler.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice, The First United Methodist Church of San Augustine, or to the Twin Lakes Care Center Activity Group, San Augustine.
