SHREVEPORT, LA - Elsie Mckinney Faith, 91, died at Grace Home on Friday, October 22, 1999 after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home on Monday, October 25, 1999 from 1 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, October 26 at 11 a.m. at North Highland United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Benge of North Highland United Methodist Church. Private family interment will follow.
Mrs. Faith was born in Hosston, LA on August [sic October] 24, 1907 and was a resident of Shreveport, LA for over 70 years. She was a member of North Highland United Methodist Church, life member of United Methodist Women, charter member of North Highlands Women's Club, a charter member of The Book Circle, a member of Hoover Watercolor Society and Louisiana Artists, Inc. She was a homemaker and a recognized artist, with paintings in corporate and private collections. She was a graduate of Byrd High School in 1926, first graduating class, a Business College, a Life Judge Emeritus in design and horticulture, trained and studied with teachers authorized by The National council of State Garden Clubs, and art education under some of Americas well known teachers. Mrs. Faith was a member of one of the founding families in North Louisiana.
Mrs. Faith is preceded by her husband, Wilburn Roy Faith; her parents, Arthur Belmont McKinney and Irene Hoffpaiur McKinney; brother, Leslie Lamar McKinney; and her sister, Opal McKinney Austin. She is survived by her daughter, Nevelyn Faith Brown, her husband, Julius W. of Shreveport, their two children, L. Karen Brown of Houston, TX and Carolin Brown Bradley of Shreveport, LA. She is survived by her nieces, Kay Austin McElwee and husband, J. B. of Coushatta, LA, Elizabeth Ann Faith Selinau of Houston, TX; nephew, William R. Faith and wife, Rita of Shreveport and a host of beloved cousins.
Pallbearers will be Guy Moore, Bob Funk, Charles Wilbanks, Jon Oliver, Mitch Timmons and Chuck Strickland.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hank Stoer, M.D., Jamie Sanders, Hugh Ben Mckinney, Berk Borne, and Charles Ravenna.
Memorials may be sent to North Highlands United Methodist Church, Grace Home, American Heart Association or charity of donors choice.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the many friends who were so supportive throughout Mrs. Faith's illness. They also express appreciation to her doctors for their care of her throughout her life. Dr's Charles Knight, Sr., Charles Knight Jr., Christopher Rheames, Tommy Brown and Charles Goben, DDS.
The family also expresses extreme gratitude to Christus Schumpert Hospice, Grace Home, Willis Knighton Hospice, and Ark-La-Tex Home Health for their care giving and loving spirit.
