SIKES -- Services for Elvin A. Willis, 88, of Sikes will be at 2 p.m. today in Hurricane Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. B. G. Dyess officiating, assisted by the Revs. Bill Bustin and Ed Smith. Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of Southern, Winnfield.
Willis died at 8:05 p.m. Saturday in Autumn Leaves Nursing Home, Winnfield, after a lengthy illness.
He was a native of Sikes, a member and deacon of Hurricane Grove Baptist Church and was retired from the state highway department. He and his wife were married for 70 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary A. Willis of Sikes; three sons, Leonard Willis of Alexandria, Leon Willis of Fort Worth, Texas, and J. B. Willis of Shreveport; three daughters, Chloee Shows of Springhill, Fae Hatten of Sulphur and Udene Sanders of Winnfield; four sisters, Bertha Erskins of El Dorado, Ark., Lottie Buckans of Winnsboro, Donnis Stroud of Winnfield and Loraine Parker of Sikes; 22 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Willis, O. L. Willis, James Elvin Shows, J. B. Willis Jr., Leonard J. Willis Jr., Scott Sanders and Gregory Hatten.
