Services for Mr. Elvis Ray Reisor, 87, of Van, formerly of Greenville, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline, with Bro. Kenneth Meadows officiating.
Interment will be in Fairway Garden of Memories Cemetery, Van.
Mr. Reisor passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, in Grand Saline, following a four-year struggle with Alzheimer's disease. His dear friend Jenny Pickett was at his side when he died. Mr. Reisor was born at White Rock on May 31, 1923, son of Bertran E. and Nettie (Woodard) Reisor. He spent much time with his best friends and family of the heart, Jenny and Richard Pickett, and with their sons, Reisor Pickett and John Pickett. He enjoyed all holidays with them, was a beloved member of their family and was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Jimmy Wayne Reisor; parents; three brothers, Johnnie, Billy and Bertis Reisor; two half-brothers, Bert and Clarence Reisor; and a half-sister, Ivy Reisor Prince.
Survivors include his three sisters, Loveta Adams of Wolfe City, and Ilena Jo Weldon and Geraldine Reisor of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, he is survived by his adopted family, Jenny and Richard Pickett, his adopted nephews, Reisor Pickett and John Pickett, their wives and children.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
