A resident of Hayden, Ala., he passed away Friday, Jan. 2, 2004. He was 51. Visitation was at Messmer-Goodwin Funeral Home, Warrior, Ala., from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2004. Funeral service at Harmony Baptist Church, Empire, Ala., at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, with Chris Chambless officiating. Burial in church cemetery.
Survived by his wife, Connie Spence; mother, Eva Spence; three sons, Elvis Spence Jr., Michael Spence and Johnny Del Spence; a stepson, Fletcher Massengill; seven sisters, Eva Collins, Margie Smith, Emma Noble, Patricia McDonald, Carylon Flowers, Virginia Dale Cobb and Linda Carnley; a brother, Harold M. Spence Jr.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
